Call for Artists
Art Ability is an international juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts by artists with disabilities • November 4, 2017 - January 28, 2018
Open to artists with physical, cognitive, visual and hearing disabilities. Only work created after the onset of a disability or injury is eligible.
NEW this year - consider submitting one of your six works of art to reflect our theme this year. The 2017 theme will be “Transformation”. To be included for consideration in the theme category at judging, please title your work “Transformation followed by your full name”, for example “Transformation by John Smith”.
All works must be for sale. Art previously exhibited in Art Ability is not eligible for submission. Works must have been created within the last 5 years to be considered.
Guidelines:
ACCEPTABLE MEDIA: Works on Paper | Works on Canvas or Board | Photography | Mixed Media | Sculpture | Jewelry and Fine Crafts
SIZE: No dimension should be less than 13” or more than 48” framed. Each piece is not to exceed 25lbs in weight.
FINISHING: All works must be sent ready for display. Two-dimensional pieces require appropriate framing and hanging hardware. Framing is required for all two-dimensional works including wrap around canvas and photographs printed on metal or foam. Framed works require plexiglas instead of glass.
STIPULATIONS: Reproduction prints will not be accepted. Work that arrives damaged will be returned to artist.
The preferred method of submission is online via CaFE™. However, submission by mail of images on CD will also be accepted with a $20 processing fee. Please call for the mail-in form.

The Washington County Arts Council, Inc. is funded by an operating grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, (MSAC), an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business & Economic Development, the MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities.
