Robert C. Murray is a writer of poetry, short stories, and the occasional novel both as himself and under the guise of his alter ego and nom de plume "AK Moray." He makes his home in scenic and historic Hagerstown, MD with his dogs Jonny & Clyde, his art supplies, and his ever-present messenger bag (more affectionately known as his 'murse'). A study in paradox, Mr. Murray is a devotee of vegetarian and vegan cooking at home (to both the joy and consternation of his visiting friends), but will never turn down a juicy burger or steak when eating out. Beyond his writing and culinary endeavors, he is also very involved with the Hub Opera Ensemble (Hagerstown's own professional opera company) and serves on the board of the Maryland Entertainment Group, Hagerstown's newest and greatest non-opera performing arts organization.

Mara's Song

Available in the WCAC Gallery Shop! A rock n roll coming of age story told through discovery, loss, and redemption: Dan and Mara grew up in vastly different backgrounds within 100 miles of each other, but emotionally they grew up in different worlds. While Dan has an almost painful normal upbringing Mara learns to be self-sufficient from a young age. The fire and passion that drive young people, that drives rock n roll, drives Dan and Mara ultimately to each other. Follow them as they discover there's more to life than the town you grew up in, even if you have to go back there to figure it all out, and no matter who you lose you should never stop doing what you love. Visit my site for more info.

Intent to Help

"Intent to Help" is a cautionary tale from the near future in short story format about what can go wrong when very smart people think they have the answers but fail to consider all possible variables. A well-meaning scientist and his lab assistant perform a series of harrowing experiments on carbon sequestration that are seemingly successful but are ultimately the catalyst for the greatest natural disaster since the dinosaurs went extinct. In Heels

Available in the WCAC Gallery Shop! AK Moray is back with this inspired collection of shorts that you will agree was worth the wait. "In Heels" offers up a series of smart and capable women and how they each react to what Life throws at them. From rites of passage to strange compulsions to the perfectly normal turned firmly on its ear, each tale told throughout "In Heels" proves that women are not just resilient and clever, but at times super-human. These seven short stories will leave you with a smile on your face, a tear in your eye, and definitely wanting more. "In Heels" is more than just a short story collection, it is an experience that you will be compelled to share with your friends and loved ones.

In Heels vol.2 You Got This

Available in the WCAC Gallery Shop! One is never enough, and so AK Moray returns yet again with another collection of stories featuring powerful and smart women who find victory in everything from the normal to the super-normal. “You Got This” revisits tales from the first volume and transports you to whole new realities. No matter where you find yourself, you can be sure that the heroine always comes out on top and she might even learn something in the process. So put your phone in airplane mode and go ahead and feed the dog, because once you pick up this book, you won’t put it down until it’s finished.

Blue.

Available in the WCAC Gallery Shop! If you enjoyed “Stand Right, Walk Left,” then you will love “Blue,” Robert C. Murray’s second collection of poems. Poetry is where we turn when the world fails to make sense. Poetry is the song we all sing when the world does make sense. Poetry is there for you, as is this humble volume of some of those very poems gathered for all your moments whether you are happy, sad, or just feeling Blue.

Regret and Opportunity

Available in the WCAC Gallery Shop! Join poet Robert C. Murray on his third adventure into verse as he shares his clever observations about this and other worlds (that one can safely assume he is imagining). As usual he covers everything from life to death, with some duck sauce thrown in for good measure (you'll see). If you enjoyed "Stand Right, Walk Left", and "Blue. Poems", you'll also find yourself quite pleased with this latest effort. If you're not sure that you enjoyed his previous poetic works, it is recommended that you go back and review them. Some items to look for: • This collection is mostly in chronological order. • It covers some fairly stressful events if you know what to look for. • I used to wait tables at a Denny's. • Something about mental sorbet. • Enjoy the book.
