Ceramic Sculpture - Animal Vessels - Functional Pottery

Sculpting animals and people in clay is my art. Capturing emotions and personality in my pieces is my intention. Inviting viewers to feel these critters in their heart is my desire.

I create functional pieces, bowls, vases, wall pockets, trays, also sculptural pieces and tiles.

The bright, colorful, shiny glazes of Majolica inspire me. I admire folk art and the pottery of early 20th century like McCoy, Red Wing, Roseville and Hull Pottery.

My art conveys a feeling of "in the moment" of life - a connection to what is.

The love of putting my hands in clay and sculpting has been a passion and creative outlet for me for 30 years now. I have taken advantage of all ceramic classes offered to me over the years. I was involved in the Annapolis Hall of the Creative Arts Co-op for many years - we made and sold our artwork locally.

A gift of a kiln and studio space allowed me to expand production and do what I love to do. I've been told by buyers that I am able to give my creatures personality. Over the years I've been commissioned to sculpt varieties of animals, mostly dog and cat breeds. I've been involved in pop-up shops, art shows, and selling my wares in fairs.

I currently have several sculptures in downtown Hagerstown - in the Washington County Arts Council. I have more time now to devote to my art - I am grateful and ready to expand.
