2025 Emerging Perspectives Exhibition
Call for Artists
With programing and opportunities for artists of all ages, The Delaplaine Arts Center (40 South Carroll St, Frederick, Maryland) announces the Emerging Artists Exhibition. Artists between the ages of 18 to 35 are invited to submit three works in any medium.
All media are eligible, including but not limited to: painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, drawing and sculpture.
Fee: $10 per artist ($5 for Delaplaine Members) for up to three (3) images. VISA, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted.
Notification of Jury Results: March 12, 2025.
Exhibit dates: April 6 through April 27, 2025
Awards: Grand prize $500, People's Choice $250
About the juror, Kara Braciale:
Kara Braciale is an artist and educator based in northern Virginia. She teaches at the Corcoran School of Arts and Design at George Washington University. She has exhibited her work at but, also in Washington, D.C., Regina Rex Gallery in New York. Her work has been included in the inaugural Museum of Contemporary Art (formerly Arlington Arts Center) biennial exhibition Assembly in 2019. She has work on view in the 2024 Made in VA Biennial at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. She has been a fellow at Virginia Center for Creative Arts and Vermont Studio Center and recently participated in the 2024 edition of Electronic Textiles Camp hosted by Prairie Ronde Residency.
Framed artworks must be fitted firmly in a frame with wire through eye screws for hanging (taut wire should be at least 1/3 distance from the top of the frame.) Gallery wrapped works are accepted.

The Washington County Arts Council, Inc. is funded by an operating grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, (MSAC), an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business & Economic Development, the MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities.
